So everyone is talking about Google Wave and how awesome it isn’t. I’m not so sure I see the practical application of “Waves” right now. I do think that like every google product, Google wave will become better and easier to use over time.

As for right now I think that Google Wave is very much like the fax machine. What did the first person who had a fax machine do with it? They couldn’t fax anyone else b/c they are the only person with the technology! That must have been a hard sale to make.

For the elite group of people that are in google wave, I’d like to hear your thoughts on it in the comments below!

You can join it by searching in Google Wave “with:public social media charlotte”.

I created it with the intention of having an open forum to discuss anything and everything social media related, kind of like a forum on steroids.  Feel free to post questions, comments, or links to any social media related topics you wish.

You too can add waves to your blog with the wordpress plugin wavr .

It looks as though the plugin is still somewhat buggy. But if you log into your google wave account here you will be able to see the wave on this post. (Awesome functionality… ) Plugin is broken or buggy

  • Hey David, I got a wave invite, accepted it, and found one person I know that also has access, so I guess I can just 'wave' to him - not very exciting when there's only one person you know using it. Not really sure what to make of it just yet. I actually put in a Q for our next meetup about GW - let's see if we can get some conversation going on the topic :)

    Join up on the charlotte social media wave. In the search bar in wave you can find all kinds of waves to join by using the -----> with:public "whatever wave you are looking for" <-------

    Hard to keep track of updates on the waves right now though. I'm sure it will get better someday =)
